Sound Tracks is an inner-city music festival with a difference. We not only put on music and art at some of London’s finest venues but get musicians to play on the trains between them too, turning the East London Line from a simple means of transport to a destination into one of the city’s most exciting destinations itself.
Our second event in May 2013 saw our famous Travelling Stage aboard London Overground trains connect up seven destinations along the East London Line. Hidden treasures like Dalston’s Old Boys Club alongside more established venues such as the Bussey Building in Peckham hosted live perfomances and exciting new work from emerging artists and musicians.
The festival is produced with permission from London Overground and Transport for London. We have had favourable coverage from BBC TV news, local blogs and printed press. Every year our wonderful team of volunteers contribute hundreds of hours towards making the event a success.
The festival is an odyssey, celebrating the richness that can be found in East London – an urban safari of venues near the Overground linked by our unique on-train Travelling Stage. Many of our performances are open to all – reaching audiences that wouldn’t normally visit music, art or theatre venues. The festival reveals the hidden connections between people, places and ideas.
